MORTON, Illinois, December 18, 2017 – Supply & Demand Chain Executive, the executive’s user manual for successful supply and demand chain transformation, has recognized G&D Integrated as a recipient of an SDCE Green Supply Chain Award for 2017.
The Green Supply Chain Award recognizes companies making green or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy, and are also working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own operations and supply chains. This year’s 10th annual awards also recognize providers of supply chain solutions and services who are assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals.
G&D Integrated was recognized for its current green initiatives which include the use of alternative fuels and energy sources. G&D has made a commitment to run its Illinois-based fleet on blends of B20 biodiesel fuel because it is a renewable, clean-burning fuel. Biodiesel also reduces carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and particulate matter, all of which impact air quality. Through the use of biodiesel in its fleet, G&D Integrated’s reduction in CO2 emissions last year equaled 229,711 fewer gallons of gasoline consumed.
“Honorees for this year’s award demonstrate that corporate social responsibility is a business imperative that transcends the company and extends throughout the supply chain, involving suppliers and customers,” said John R. Yuva, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “The number of entries only increase year over year, demonstrating how critical sustainability initiatives are within companies.”
“We congratulate this year’s honorees for their commitment to sustainability and recognize their tremendous achievements,” Yuva added. “Our honorees serve as role models for supply chains globally to expand their corporate social responsibility reach and impact.”
